Are Carpet Remnants Better Than Empire Carpet, for example?
© ActiveSteve

Empire Carpet is well known for being a high quality carpet option. However, some homeowners may want to understand how to cut carpet installation costs even further. Checking carpet prices at several remnant stores in your area is a good place to start, and you should also look at prices in warehouse discount stores where you will tend to find considerable discounts on quality carpeting. Carpet remnants typically have slight defects which make them unsuitable for sale in the top retail stores, but these defects are often so minor that you hardly notice them when you inspect the carpet.

This option is not suited for everyone though. For instance, some carpet remnants may have tears in them which may leak out toxic chemicals, and this may be very harmful for children. Therefore, many homeowners will prefer the quality of Empire Today carpets, for example, ensuring greater household safety and a longer lifespan for the carpet.

911 Alarms Rising Up
© fczuardi

The number of false alarm calls coming into the Grand Island/Hall County 911 center is rising.
Emergency Management Director Jon Rosenlund claims that last summer 2010 there were 80 alarm calls a month, which has jumped up to an average of 168 for the second half of that year. This increase is from 3 per day to 6 per day
Although these alarm calls make up just 2 % to 3% of the 5000 911 calls received monthly, mostly alarm calls end up being false alarms. They take time to respond to and pull officers off the street who might otherwise be bringing safety to the streets. Rosenlund claims that main increase in false alarms was noticed last spring and early summer when contracts were being sold by APX.
